ARTS & AUDIOVISUAL
I’ve worked with video production companies AudioProjects and Deluxe. My experience includes translating credits and scripts, as well as subtitling.
Galeria Àlex Telese—an art gallery from Barcelona—hired my services to translate brochures from Spanish into English for artists Iñaki Torres and Damaso Reyes.
Additionally, I’ve collaborated with various musicians, such as Eva “Lady Stardust” and Mireia “Lady Morte,” to help them present their projects to English-speaking audiences.
My background encompasses translating and reviewing applications, diplomas, forms, letters, reports, tests, and transcripts for individuals, as well as organizations, learning groups and test centers, whose focus is on individuals with learning disabilities and language barriers.
One of my proudest accomplishments was managing a project for the American Jewish University (AJU), where I took a course on Jewish/Judaic Studies. This project involved editing and proofreading the Introduction to Judaism course book Sobre un pie, which was originally edited in English as On One Foot by Rabbi Adam Greenwald.
I’ve also collaborated with the Chicago Rabbinical Council (cRc) translating kashrut guidelines into Spanish.
FINANCIAL & INSURANCE
My career as a language professional kicked off when I was hired to work temporarily as an operations assistant for Deutsche Bank in 2004. My translation, editing, and interpreting skills would prove helpful there, as well as in later salaried positions.
From 2009 through 2015, I was employed at Banco Sabadell—one of Spain’s top banks. I contributed to transactions and sales of a variety of financial and insurance products, including checking accounts, debit and credit cards, savings and CDs, securities, investment funds, mortgages, loans, financing, e-commerce, etc. As a freelance translator, I’ve focused on fact sheets, reports, and statements.
I assisted the bank above in its strategy of internationalization, notably on digital media. That led to several mergers, in which four domestic, two British and two American banks were acquired. It was at this stage that I was introduced to project management.
I’m proficient in the translation of agreements, certificates, disclaimers, and vital records for individuals and companies.
As an interpreter, I’ve worked with several law firms in the Chicago area. I’ve often assisted with arbitrations and depositions when one of the parties has Limited English proficiency (LEP). My specialties are professional and medical malpractice.
I also provide transcription services for insurance companies, which requires transforming audio files into text (and translating the content if needed).
My work as a translator and editor often involves marketing content. Some brands that have worked with me include GoPro, Nike, and Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB).
As Banco Sabadell’s former social media manager, my experience involved composing, editing and publishing content as well as interacting and following up with customers, gathering and reviewing data, and creating presentations and reports.
MEDICAL, HEALTHCARE & PHARMACEUTICAL
I’ve teamed up with many hospitals, clinics and health groups (e.g.: Covenant Health) to translate and/or edit Spanish-language content from documents, forms, instructions, and medical records.
In addition, I’ve provided interpreting services for insurance claimants at health centers.
TECHNOLOGY & ELECTRONICS
From 2005 through 2008, I was employed by SITEL, an outsourcing company whose focus is on the IT industry. As a technical support representative, I worked for Endesa—the largest electric utility company in Spain—and LG Electronics.
My translation and interpreting skills catered to non-Spanish departments and customers. I gained some wide knowledge of technology and electronic products, including mobile devices and computers, televisions, kitchen and laundry appliances, and air conditioners.
Years later, I would collaborate with Dell, Google, and Intel.
