Audiovisual, legal and medical are my areas of expertise. I speak English, Spanish, Catalan, French, Galician, and German. I also have varying degrees of knowledge of Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Hebrew. I’d love to learn Yiddish.
My love for languages led me to complete a bachelor’s degree in Translation and Interpreting at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). I’ve also studied a master’s degree in Multimedia Translation (dubbing, subtitling and localizing). Currently, I’m a member of the American Translators Association (ATA):
I’ve been working as a professional translator and editor since 2004 for clients in the art, banking, education, gastronomy, healthcare, legal, marketing, music, and technology fields.
I created and managed a brand, BPM Traducciones, to provide translation, interpreting, editing and language instruction services from 2011 through 2016. Since then, I’ve been going solo as a language professional. My skills include CAT software such as SDL MultiTerm/Trados, OmegaT, WordFast, DéjàVu, CatsCradle, Aegisub, Subtitle Workshop, and WordReference.
Banco Sabadell, one of Catalonia’s and Spain’s top banks, hired me as a customer service representative. That led me to become a social media specialist. I helped the bank achieve a solid digital reputation that has been met with critical acclaim. My main contribution consisted of shaping and developing a customer service on social networks, which helped to improve customer loyalty and attract new prospects. I also provided translation services in English, Catalan, Spanish, French, German, Galician and Russian.
When I’m not working, I like to read, write, listen to music, and travel.
Although reading in digital format is comfortable and saves a lot of physical space, I still prefer paper. Some of my favorite books are:
► Nancy Colier – The Power of Off
► Michael Ende – The Neverending Story
► Lucia Etxebarria – La Eva Futura
► Joan Fuster – Nosaltres els valencians
► Harold S. Kushner – To Life!
► Torcuato Luca de Tena – Los Renglones Torcidos de Dios
► Albert Pont – Delenda est Hispania
► Giles Tremlett – Ghosts of Spain
As any good translator, I love writing. Before I started this blog, I used to write one called Toni Sees the World, which mirrored my reflections on life and showcased some of my work.
I’m very grateful to technology for making it possible to stream music. These are some of the artists I listen to:
Music has been an essential part of my life. From 2003 to 2010, I was involved in several underground projects in which I either sang or played guitar. I still write words and music in private.
I love traveling and discovering new places. Some of my favorites are Minneapolis, New York, Los Angeles, Girona, Valencia, Alacant, Donostia, Santiago, Lisbon, Paris, Montpellier, Rome, London, Cork, Brussels, Berlin, Munich, San Luis Potosí, Tel Aviv, and Jerusalem.
